Remote desktop on public Wifi

My remote desktop on Vista Home Premium works fine when I am sitting at home.
But when I try to access my remote computer via my laptop on a public access
network, I get a message saying the remote computer cannot be accessed. It
seems like there should be a simple solution by re-setting some parameters.

Any ideas?

If the remote PC is behind a router or software firewall you need to
forward/open TCP Port 3389. Have you done that?

If the remote PC is behind a router you need to call the public IP of the
router, ie. the IP assigned by your ISP.

Thanks, Sooner. That did it! I followed the tutorial on how to open the
port, and I will test it out this PM at the public library,.

I'll get back to you with the results.
