Remote Desktop Local Printer not working

J

Jonathan de Beere

Hi,

I have an Epson Stylus parallel printer that is connected
locally to my PC. The printer works perfectly, apart
from when I am using Remote Desktop.

I use Remote Desktop to logon to a Windows 2000 Server DC
running Terminal Services. When I logon to the TS
through Remote desktop as an administrator, the printer
is redirected correctly and will work. If I logon to the
TS as a normal domain user, the printer isn't redirected
and I cannot see it or access it.

Does anyone have an idea why this problem might be
occuring?

If you have a different printer attached to the client
computer, can you then printer to that printer through the
TS session? What about if you use a different account to
logon to terminal services? If you give the normal user
admin privileges temporarily, does the printer mapping
then work?
