Remote Desktop hangs target system

Two systems running XP Pro (SP1).

I can successfully Remote Desktop from one to the other,
but when I turn around and attempt to do the reverse
(after disconnecting), from the 2nd to the 1st, the
target system hangs with a blank screen after entering
logon info from the local system. The only way I have
found to get the target system back is to power cycle.

But, it isn't dead, I can still ping it and issue DIR
commands from MS-DOS.

This is reproducible on various XP-pro systems and I
can't find the common denominator as to why it works on
some combinations yet fails on others.

Any help?

I would verify the graphics display drivers are up to date on the problematic Remote Desktop host
PC...
