Can Remote Desktop can't ping

I have two XP Pro computers on a local network behind a router. They get
there IP addresses dynamically from the router. Just today a new symptom
showed up (and I didn't change anything). I can connect to my computer at
192.168.1.102 via remote desktop. But if I ping 192.168.1.102 the ping
always times out. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Chas

Check your windows firewall settings on that computer....in Advanced, look
for ICMP and tick "allow incoming echo request."

I forgot to mention, Also windows explorer to that computer stopped working
too. When I type \\192.168.1.102 into the address bar I get :
\\192.168.1.102 is not accessible. YOu might not have permission to use
this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out
if you have access permissions.
The network is not present of not started,

Hi
Switch Off the two computers, wait 3 minutes and switch On again.
Did help, check carefully the Firewall settings.
