I have WindowsXP Home on my computer. I want to set up a
remote desktop connection from a computer at another
remote location. Can I do this with XP home or do I need
XP professional? If professional, can i upgrade or do I
need to purchase the new software completely? Thanks.

You can get an upgrade edition of XP Pro, you don't need the full version. Now, with that said...

You can also use VNC or NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing (RDS) to access/control an XP Home box
from a remote location.

Get the VNC software from...

http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/

Note the VNC data stream is *NOT* encrypted. You might consider running VNC through a VPN tunnel if
you want to access your desktop remotely over the public internet.

For help with NetMeeting RDS look at this KB article. NetMeeting is built-in to XP and can not be
upgraded...
