Remote desktop connection The terminal Services ActiveX control (msvcrt.dll) does not match the vers

Hi, After a malware check or two I now cannot run the Remote Desktop
Connection. I have tried re-intstalling it with no luck.

The error is
"The terminal Services ActiveX control (msvcrt.dll) does not match the
version of the client shell"

Googling this doesn't turn up much.

Win XP 64 Professional x64 Edition
Version 2003
Sp1

All patched and updated.

Any ideas?

I would suggest you to visit : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324762/EN-US/

After reinstalling msvcrt.dll try to register the file using regsvr32 command.

Hi,

I tried this but the file that I need to expand is not in the i386
directory and on searching the DVD its not available. The kb article
refers to the normal vanilla xp not x64.

Any other ideas?
