Remote desktop causes console to go 'out of scan range'

Hi all,

My work PC has a SONY LCD monitor (TFT LCD SDM S81R). My home PC has
a generic pnp 19" CRT. Both are running at 1280 x 1024, home PC runs
at 75hz, work is set to 60hz.

Both run just fine, except recently (perhaps post SP2?) I've
discovered that if I remote desktop to work from home at night, when I
return to work the next day and log in at the console, the monitor
reports 'Out of scan range'.

I can still remote desktop from other machines here at work to my pc
without any trouble, but the console is completely hosed and requires
a reset. Once reset, the console can log in just fine.

I've searched groups and various sites without any luck on this one -
can anyone tell me how/why my RDP session is effecting the console
settings, and how I can get around this problem?

Thanks.

That's a new one....

The only suggestion short of opening a support incident w/ MS is to
update the video driver on the server side (although this shouldn't
impact the problem - it would be one of the first steps PSS would
take)

In addition to what I've written above, I can now also confirm that
this same error occurs no matter what the resolution/refresh
rate/settings are of the client (machine connecting via RDP). I've
tested a bunch of different options, and in all cases the host shows
the same error.

The error is, exactly: "Out of scan range. 90.9Khz / 84Hz".

I can reproduce something very similar to this error if I attempt to
set the refresh rate of the monitor outside it's available range. Eg,
setting to 85Hz returns "Out of scan range. 91.3Khz / 85Hz"

I've upgraded my drivers to the latest ones available from Sony, and
still no luck.

Am I crazy, or should RDP just never effect the settings of the host
anyway?!?
