Remote Desktop Active X control

I have sucessfully setup my windows xp as a web server so that I can use remote desktop web connection. I currently have comcast 3mbps cable on 1 xp pro pc and and sbc 3mbps dsl on the pc setup as the web server. When I first tried to connect on from the xp pc on the cable connection to test it, it got the prompt for the active x control, I accepted it, and was able to connect. When I try connecting from my job which is on a gigabit network and when I browse to http://computername/tsweb (by the way it works without putting in /tsweb), it says opening page in the status bar but I do not get prompted to install any active x controls and it just sits at a blank white page. I know that the pc I'm connecting from does not have the active x control installed. It is obviously hitting my pc/webserver. How do I get it to prompt to accept the active x control when connecting from a pc that does not already have it installed?

I have also tried setting my security settings to allow all active x controls as well as browsing directly to http://computername/tsweb/default.htm and still get nothing. No prompt for active x control, and no web page. My work also uses a proxy server, in which I am not behind it and have turned off my proxy settings which opens my pc up to all internet activity and still nothing.

Your office may have activex controls disabled or filtered... You
would also need to be an adminstrator to install this control...

The proxy may be filtering out the ActiveX control for security
reasons... If this is the case, you would be better off using the
regular remote desktop client (mstsc.exe) in lieu of the web
interface.

Hi every one,
I have the similar problem. But my Remote desktop was working very wel
until i reinstalled my XP home system recently. My company use Remot
Workplace for SBS 2003. I can login, entering my usernmae and password
I can receive and sending emails. But when i try to connect to m
computer at work from home, it prompted out the message sayin
"...required Microsofte Remote Desktop Active X Contol, your browser'
security settings not allowing you download Active X control, Adjus
setting and try connect again". I did reset the IE security to allo
Active X control --> i have opened every option. I did set my company'
website as the trust site. I did turn off the firework. I did add II
and Remote desktop windows components. I did updating my XP fro
Microsoft. I also downloaded and installed the Active X control. Bu
all of these still NOT working at all. The funny thing is, I can VP
into my client's machine from my home, and then use that machine'
remote desktop connect to my workplace, it worked! but, why it's no
working in my machine?
Could someone help me?

Thank yo

Sounds like your ActiveX control is trying to update its version and your
logon does not have permission to overlay the newer control. Try making
your account a Power User. Also, you do not need IIS loaded on the client.
