I don't think remote desktop has a good enough refresh rate to do editing.
I'm not sure the preview would work at all.

I tried to do this once and I got an error stating that Movie Maker 2 was
only for the XP family. I think Microsoft wants to prevent you from cheating
to get the XP benefits on a non-XP system. If you connected to your computer
from another one also running XP, however, you may be allowed to do it. You
would also need a large bandwith to carry all the data. I would get an XP
computer if you really must work at home because its just not worth the
trouble.

No Movie maker does not work through Remote Desktop. XP or not.

I think this limitation is an unnecessary one. If MM was not able to show
preview due to bandwidth, then why not just let it do that... i.e. not show
preview.

I use MM in a way where i am not interested in preview most of the times. I
have a fast computer in the loft and a slow laptop to carry around the
hosue. I do most of the computing intensive work through remote desktop on
the power horse in the loft. but MM doesnt fit into this model. sigh.

I now use TightVNC (as an alternative to Remote Desktop) for using MM
remotely.
