When I open up computer management on a different computer
on my computer and try to use the disk degragmentation it
says that the version of disk degragmenter does not
support the degragmentation of remote volumes. What
version does and how do I get it?

I recommend Diskeeper from Executive Software:

One that you pay extra for - not the one that comes with Windows.
PerfectDisk, Diskeeper, etc.

As you now know, Disk Defragmenter does not support remote defragmentation.
See "Disk Defragmenter Limitations in Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows
Server 2003" at

Why do you want to do this? What is the goal here? Are these servers, or
user workstations? Workstations can be political and touchy. You may not
want to give users local admin access. And users may feel it is our job to
clean their mess. So, that's hard to answer without knowing what your
constraints are. For servers, you can do this thru Terminal Server, but then
the session has to stay open, doesn't it? Or, you can do this with
NetMeeting, in which case, you can disconnect from Remote Desktop
Administration, and just let it run (also a possibility with desktops, so
long as the screen saver locks out passers by). Of course, then you have to
audit either against abuse.
