I have a brand-new Dell, and two HP's, all running Media Center (with
SP2)._Mine_is hardwired into the wireless modem. The two HP's are
wirelessly connected. They are upstairs. I'm handicapped and so the stairs
are impossible for me to navigate. My wife has one HP and my son has the
other. What is the best software available these days to allow me to
"remotely control" the two HP's from my Dell: I need to do things such as
running Windows Update, download stuff and install it, and as the resident
computer geek, answer questions as required (which much is going to require
me to see what's on the screen).
I also want to be able to use one of the upstairs printers, and allow my
wife and son to print to my printer and to be able to share files as
transparently as possible between the PCs. Previously, I had all machines
hardwired and had no problem sharing files and printers. I'm not sure how
to do so between the wireless machines and my hardwired machine.
I figure I can get my son or my wife to properly install whatever remote
software I end up installing, and then I'll be able to properly set up
workgroup and permissions remotely as required.
So what do you think is the best move somewhere available?
Thanks!
