I was able to establish a connection with another computer using Remote
Assistance. They have Home XP and I have XP Professional. I was able to
take everything out of their startup (except for their AntiVirus) using
System Configuration Utility (msconfig). I also cleared a lot out through
Internet Options. I also found a network connection that wasn't being used,
so I disabled it, since she was using her Dial Up Connection.

The next time we tried to establish a Remote Assistance connection, I get an
error telling me that there was a problem resolving the host name. We
resent the invitation several times, assuming that it might have just timed
out. We got the host name resolution error several times.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I have tried to
figure out what I might have disabled by mistake that could have caused this
problem.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Tony:

Use Notepad to review the contents of the invitation:
The following info from the invitation is impt:
RCTICKET="65538,1,192.168.13.10:3389;ComputerName:3389,

Contact the Novice and verify his address (192.168.13.10 in the example
above)
If the Novice is using dynamic addressing, that could be your problem.

Also, if Novice is behind a router, you must edit the invitation to use his
router's WAN port public address.

And note that the same error message displays on the Expert's computer if
the invitation has expired.
