Jay

My buddy was able to get remote assitance from me. Then he
downloaded 6.0 and now he keeps getting a msg saying the
invitation declined - ltatest version of 6.0 needed. I
have 6.0 installed. we downloaded it again and reinstalled
it on his machine but keep getting the same msg. any
thoughts on how to get beyond this?

Greetings Jay,

Actually it's saying that he needs the latest version of Windows Messenger -- not MSN
Messenger. In order to use Remote Assistance within MSN Messenger, the latest version of
Windows Messenger must also be installed.

He can download it from here:

Ahhh, I've been having the same problem too...I uninstalled Windows
Messenger since it was such a pain in the A and didn't see any point
in having Windows Msgr and MSN Msgr both installed.....duh me!

Thanks for the help Jonathan, even if it wasn't intended for me. Gotta
love usenet ;)

Frustrated

That has got to be one of the more lame ideas MS has come
up with...having to have both MSN Messenger AND Windows
Messenger installed???? Or is it just Windows messenger?
Why then does MSN Messenger have the "Remote" option? I'm
downloading Windows Messenger to try it but I think
you're full of GAS!

You don't need both installed to do remote assistance, just Windows
Messenger...I prefer MSN Messenger for chatting, but if you want to do
the remote assistance you need Windows Messenger installed.

simple fact is that Jonathan fixed my (and probably countless others
that haven't said a word) problem with his information and thanks
still go out to him, I sensed no gas :p
