Remote Assistance not installed properly

Hi,
I renecntly bought a new PC that came with XP SP1a (OEM) installed ... and I
have subsequently installed everything else I need. It goes great ... except
.... it seems that Remote Assistance has not been installed properly & didn't
work as either the Novice or the Expert, giving errors each time ("Cannot
display the page") and not allowing connection.
After many hours of comparisons between the new PC and my old PC that I had
just rebuilt (fresh install of XP with SP1a and all updates) for my sister,
I found that the "C:\Windows\Pchealth\HelpCtr\System\Remote Assistance"
folder was virtually empty on the new PC, whilst on the old one it had heaps
of files (XML, HTML, etc etc).
After checking that there were no executable files I managed to copy over
the files, maintaining the file structure ... which I know is not the right
way, but I wanted to see if it produced different results.
It now works when the Expert but still not as the Novice. I would like to
fix it properly but don't know how (except complete reinstall, which I don't
want to do ... ).

Is it possible to uninstall then reinstall the Remote Assistance feature
only ?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
thanks,
Duncan

Now that you have copied the files, did you try running
sfc? Put in the XP CD, the Start, Run, and type
sfc /scannow
