Hello all,,, I just need a confirmation of the following.....

In Windows XP Pro machine if the administrator account has a blank password,
a user can only log on to such a machine at the console only....... right??

However, in Windows 2000 Professional, if your administrator account has a
blank password.... it is open to all remote logins without supplying a
password.

Is this the default behaviour of both OSs or am I getting it all wrong??

Cheers....!!

This is a policy that can be set. I'm not sure about Win2K, but the default for XP is blank passwords are limited to local console logon only.

Click Start, Run and enter GPEDIT.MSC Go to: Computer Configuration, Windows Settings, Security Settings, Local Policies, Security Options. Under Accounts, in the right pane, you'll find this setting.
