Hi i would like to know if it is possible to access windows xp from windows
98 through terminal service. My win98 pc is able to access my other win2003
server using remote desktop 5.1 but could not access winxp. I was prompted
that the windows xp pc might be busy but its not doing any task. I use the
user name that was added to remote desktop users group and have assign a
password. The terminal service is windows xp is already started. The
difference between the setup for terminal service on winxp and win2003 is
that i added the terminal server role in win2003 but could not do the same in
winxp. However according to my search on internet its possible to access
winxp using remote desktop without adding terminal server role.

XP Pro needs to be "told" that Remote Desktop is active. You will need to
then "list" out the authroised user. Also, there needs the have a "group
policy" change since XP will not allow RDP to use a user account that does
not have a password.

Windows 2003 server already is set up with user accounts, and password, when
you set up Remote Desktop.

Hi. After i enable "restrict terminal services users to a single remote
session", "limit number of connections" and "allow users to connect remotely
using terminal services" through group policy i am able to connect to windows
xp via remote desktop connection 5.1 from windows 98. However i was prompted
it would end the current local logon session to my winxp pc. Hence how do i
ensure simultaneous connection is possible? Thks in advance.

Under the Remote tab in system properties, make sure the box is checked to
"Allow users to connect remotely to this computer"
