Hello,

I would like to access my XP Pro workstation at home from work. I have a
full Win2k3 AD environment at home including a full-fledged firewall.

The problem is my WORK environment.

I cannot use the RDP client (mstsc.exe /v:public_ip_address) as the firewall
proxy blocks direct outbound access. I cannot use the RDP Web interface,
because I cannot download/install the ActiveX control. (Can it be
downloaded manually and installed?)

I don't wish to use a pay service like "GotoMyPc" because it costs too much.

Are there any other alternatives???

Thanks,
Troy

UltraVNC?
Changing the listening ports on your home machines?

If this is for a company approve connection, just ask the administrators
to let you have outbound access.

If it's not for approved access, then just wait until you get home so
that you are not wasting company resources/time - which could get you
fired.

Gez, state the obvious. We all have different views of "wasting company
time/resources".

Really?! You mean like when employees are suppose to be working and they
FEEL it's their RIGHT to just check email from home? You mean like
listening to streaming audio over the company T1?

Come on, how can you look at yourself in the mirror knowing that you're
stealing company resources.

I don't think I said I was going to do ANY of those things.

I have a tremendous amount of IT type info on my home computer. Most of it
I carry in a 50 disk collection of CD's. But sometimes, I just don't have
that stuff with me and it would be nice to access it remotely!

Geeezzz!

Then you should be working WITH your network administrator so as to
maintain network security.
