Reminders / Tasks / Outlook 2003 / can't get rid of 'greyed out' d

Even though I have unticked the Reminder box (having previously had an active
reminder which is now no longer required), a greyed out date and time still
remains in the field.

This normally wouldn't be a problem except that I need to Sort task entries
by Reminder Date field/column using Field Chooser.

Problem is that the inactive greyed out reminder date appears as an active
date in the sort. Any suggestions as to how the greyed out date/time can
actually be removed (there is no None option).

Thanks

Is this a Task with a reminder?

If so, open it and turn off the reminder. You may need to uncomplete the
Task first.

I hope this helps you at least a little bit!

Hi Judy, thanks for your reply.

Yes it is still an active Task; it previously had an active Reminder date
(box was ticked). However even though the reminder box has subsequently been
unticked (I need the Task but not the reminder), the last entered reminder
date/time remains as greyed out in the fields on the Task.

Even if the Task is marked as 100% Completed (just for the test exercise)
the greyed out date & time still remains.

No matter what I do I cannot get rid of the greyed out reminder date/time no
matter what the status of the Task or the Task reminder. This is the problem
because my Field Chooser Sorts show/include both active and inactive (greyed
out) reminders, by default.

Any advice?

If I understood what you meant by this line I may be able to help some more:

out) reminders, by default.

What are you trying to achieve by sorting on reminder dates anyway? Did you
set Start and Due Dates for your Tasks? Aren't they more useful than
reminder (interruption) dates and times?

Hi Ponty,

Alternatively, you may try Cute Reminder. It will show you unobtrusive
pop-up reminders, which are incredibly easy to set up, delete, and
postpone. You can also post sticky notes on your screen. So you can
have separate to-dos and reminders. It may be more convenient. And the
Pro version is able to export/import to/from Outlook.
