Reminder window is inconsistent

I recently upgraded to Office 2003 from 2000, and I'm having problems with
the reminder windows. I have been reading in the forum here that people find
the reminder window always popping *under* other windows. I could live with
that! My problem is that it's inconsistent -- both whether it pops *up* or
*under* visually, AND whether it is the current window or a greyed-out window
when it does pop *up*.

Sometimes it pops *up* while I'm typing in another window, and my keyboard
typing becomes applied to the reminder window. That means if I hit the delete
key (thinking I'm still in my other window), I wind up inadvertently
cancelling the reminder it happens to be highlighting instead! And usually I
don't even know which reminder I've accidentally cancelled. This is
maddening!!

And it doesn't even do it consistently, where I can get it to only pop
*under* -- that, at least, I could deal with and check out the reminders when
I notice the button in the task bar. But it's all over the place. It's
driving me nuts!

Can someone please, please, please help me figure out how to get this thing
behaving consistently? And how to stop it from intercepting my keyboard
strokes by intruding on my screen? Thank you!

From what I've noticed is that it pops UP when you've got the Reminder
windows closed when the reminder fires and that it pops UNDER when you have
the Reminder already open.

Thanks for your reply, Robert! Actually, if I minimise the reminder window,
it seems to stay minimised, but I'm not sure that's consistent either. And it
means I'll always have to have one lingering reminder in order to keep it
like that, which is a nuisance. And it still maximizes when a new reminder
comes due, although it might pop over or under. I haven't figured out a
consistent pattern to it yet. It just seems like if you don't want it to
popup, it does, and if you do want it to popup, it doesn't. :-( I read about
people who complain that it's not popping up when they want it to, and I seem
to have the opposite problem. Just as I was writing this, it popped up (after
being eliminated) but as a greyed-out window. Weird. Any and all suggestions
are most welcome and pleaded for! :)
