Reminder will not appear

I set an appointment for my dentist with a reminder in OL 2003. When I
tried to save the appointment I got this error message: "The reminder for
'Dr. Pain' will not appear because the item is not in your Calendar or tasks
folder. Is this OK? Yes/No" I have no idea what this means. And since
this did not seem like a good idea--what's the point of a reminder that will
not appear?--I clicked "No." Tried to save again and got the same error
message. Obviously, "No" is a trick answer. The only answer OL will accept
is "Yes." What must I do to get the reminder to work?

Background: This is a Calendar folder I am sharing between two OL profiles.

Reminders only fire if they are stored in your mailbox calendar, not a
shared calendar.
if you need it in both, copy it to the other calendar after you save it. Or
check out the reminder utility at www.slovaktech.com.

Nuts! Well, I knew Outlook would bite back! It didn't trake long.
