I have noticed that others are having the same problem
with Outlook 2003 and the message "reminder service is
not running" is there a fix for this?

When do you get this error and what troubleshooting have you already tried?

This is on a clients system an comes at random times
during the day, this is a new install from SBS 2003, I
have tried resetting the folders and the cleanreminders
command. This has been an issue since early on.

Are they running in cached mode? If so have them disable it and then use
/resetfolders and /cleanreminders. See if that helps. If it does then
re-enable cached mode but with a new OST file.

Also make sure anyone running any PDA synch software is running the latest
versions. That was an issue with some synch software and Outlook 2003. They
ended up creating multiple Reminders folders and that messed up the
reminders service. The only real solution for that is to use a tool like
mdbview or OutlookSpy to find and delete all existing Reminders folder
(Reminders, Reminders1, etc.).

Thanks for the reply, no PDA usage at all, this is only
accessed directly from the local desktop.

Since this is a clients machine and she works odd hours I
cannot readily make all of the changes or quickly monitor
the outcome, I have turned off caching but it will take a
while for me to see the results.
