reminder notice for flagged messages

I have noticed that I am not receiving a reminder message for email messages
that I have flagged and added a reminder. I have verified that the reminder
notification is turned on, and I do receive a notice for task reminders.
Does anyone have an ide why this is happening and a solution?

are the reminders in the default folder? if not, you need reminder manager -
