remembering password

My Windows XP OE doesn't seem to remember

passwords and user names the way my old computer did.

I click on "remember password" and it doesn't seem to.

I'm typing in both everytime I change screens.

Am I missing a preference somewhere??

The preferences are in tools -> internet options ->
content -> auto complete, are all the boxes checked?
