Remember Personal Folders View?

John Schneider

Sorry if I'm repeating myself, but my previous message on this topic seems
to have disappeared from the newsgroup.

I'm running Outlook 2003, and have my personal folders expanded a certain
way. For example:
A
---A1
---A2
B
C
---C1
D

If I collapse folder "C" and close Outlook (and even reboot the machine),
the next time I come into Outlook, folder "C" still shows as expanded.

Is there any way to get Outlook to remember the last view?

Thanks,
John Schneider

the folders expand if mail is delivered to the folder.

Diane,

Thanks for the response, but the folder I've collapsed has not received any
mail in about 6 months, yet every time I collapse it, the next time I go
into Outlook, its expanded again.

does it contain messages marked unread? does a folder at it's level receive
new messages? I think if C gets a new message, that expands the folders
under it.

No, there are no unread messages in C or any of its subfolders, and no new
messages for C (or any of its subfolders) have been received in months.

Thanks,
John

I have searched HIGH and low but cannot find a solution to this problem. I
want my Outlook 2003 to open with all the folders collapsed but for some
reason about a month ago it started opening 3 folders on startup. I don't
want them open and I have done several things to try to make the default view
for the personal folders open collapsed but it won't give up its secrets.

Can anyone help? There are supposed to be some MVP's with answers but the
response to this thread is pretty sad!

PJ,

Thanks for the response, but I still would like to have it remember which
folders I had expanded when I open Outlook. Where did you find the
information about the command line switch?

John

I have the exact opposite problem. I can't get the folders to expand as last
viewed. I tried the cleanviews switch but that didn't work either.
