Relocate Quick Launch

In XP, I could relocate the Quick Launch toolbar. I prefer it along the left
side, running the whole length of the page. This option seems to have
disappeared in Vista? Is that right? Is there a workaround? Am I just missing
something on a paradigm?

The options to move the Quick Launch toolbar were removed in Vista. (I have
no idea why this was done?)

There is a workaround, but it is a little kludgy.

1. Go to Start and type: shell:quick launch (including the colon) In the
results, click Quick Launch. This will take you to the default quick launch
folder.

2. Click the Internet Explorer folder just above the QL folder. In the right
side window, right click the QL folder and select Copy. Go to the Desktop
and right click Paste the folder there.

3. Drag the QL folder to the left side of the screen and drop it there. It
should act just like the original QL bar and attach itself there.

4. Right click the original QL folder that you pasted to the Desktop and
select Delete. All of the icons will disappear from the new QL bar.

5. Right click the new QL toolbar and select Toolbars from the pop up menu.
You should see 2 entries for Quick Launch there. Select the top entry and
the icons should reappear.

You can now right click the new QL toolbar and select your preferred
options, such as Always on top, Auto-Hide, etc. This new toolbar will be
separate from the original QL bar.
