Relocate hiberfil.sys in C:

If I turn on the Hibernation mode, by default the
hiberfil.sys will be in "C:" Drive. Question: My "C:" are
running out of HDD space, is there anyway I can move the
hiberfil.sys into another partition e.g. "D:" Drive?

Thanks.

Hi

When Hibernation is enabled the hiberfil.sys file can't be renamed, deleted or moved to any other partition/disk. If you want that extra space you will have to disable Hibernation.

No. That file needs to be available on the first instant you power up
again from hibernation, before the system is even aware other partitions
exist.

You *can* move the page file, though having it on a second partition of
the same drive is less than optimal: At Control Panel - System -
Advanced - Performance Settings - Advanced - Virtual Memory click
Change.

Select the D:, make suitable size and *click Set*; then C:, set custom
- initial 2 max 50 and click Set. The file on C will probably never
come into existence, but the system likes to have the possibility.

Also move your My Documents - open My Computer to C:\Documents and
Settings\you to show the folder, open another window on D and *right*
drag, Move here to move the files over - the registry will be updated in
the process.
