rejoining a domain & profiles..

Hi..
i hope i can explain this problem ok..

We just repaired our server and during this we had to
remove then re-add the domain name. this worked fine.

The problem is that all the workstations in the office are
looking at the domain, but i get netlogon errors about the
trust relationship or something like that.

Usually to fix this we have removed the domain from the
pc, then logged in on a workstation, then re-added the pc
to the domain. This registers the pc on the server
correctly..
BUT then the user ends up with a new profile being created
and they loose all their personal settings, we then end up
logging in as an administrator and copying the users old
profile over the new one so their settings stay the
same.. .. These are local profiles, not roaming.

Is there anyway to get a pc/profile back working on the
domain without going through all this process?

i hope i made sense with this question.

Anyhelp would be great.
cheers anne

When you recreate a domain <remove then re-add the domain name> it gets a
new SID, but the workstations, users etc still belong to the old domain
(they know only old SID). NewSID utility from www.sysinternals.com could
help to change server (domain) SID to the old value (use psGetSid from the
same site to know it).
To avoid these things in the future add to the domain second DC for
redundancy.
