Reinstalling XP from iso of my hard drive?

P

Hi, I copied all of my files off of my hard drive and now I want to
reinstall XP clean. I loaded the bootdisk floppy, formatted the drive
and now am ready to setup. What is the next step? I don't have any XP
disks as the computer didn't come with them. I have heard that you can
look in the i386 folder and do is somehow, or begin with the floppies
Micrsoft has up on the Net. Well, I want to proceed the way that is
easiest for a not-so-advanced user, so that I can be up and running by
week's end. I have the product key next to the computer and am ready
for your assistance, please help, ps

If you formatted your hard drive, there is nothing you can do because your
i386 directory no longer exists.
Contact the PC manufacturer for reinstall CD's.

You formatted the drive and want to install Xp, but you don't have a disc.

Priceless.

XP does not come on floppies, it is cd only. The floppy images you are
finding are for setting up on a system that has a nonbootable cd drive.

You have three options.

1.Contact the PC manufacturer and find out what they provide for restore
tools and discs.

2. Go buy a copy of XP

3. Go get a pirated copy of XP (Note: This method is only reccomended for
scumbags or actual sea lovin, parrot on the shoulder, shiver me timbers,
pirates. arrrgh!)

I have the files, why is everyone so ornery. I just want to know how to
use them. I have them on an iso and on an Isobustered one. If you know
how to run a setup from them then please assist, if you don't, please
don't reply, thanks. You must be able to run a setup from the i386
folder or make a bootable disk that can be used later in case the
computer crashes. By the way, if someone designs a way to accomplish
this that other XP users could utilize, I am sure it would be a vital
addition to owning the OS. I might just have a dedicated tech here,
come over, pay him the dinero and have him do it (he is a bonafife
genius). Then I am going to put it up on a web page, so all readers
will know how to do it. From my recent observations and beginning to be
jaded perspective, Microsoft won't like it and I probably will be
contacted by them, very very soon, Well, get back with any avenues of
pursuit, ps

You can not install Windows XP from an .iso file you created of your Windows
partition. There are programs that you can use to do what you want. They are
called Acronis True Image, Norton Ghost and similar programs.

You then formatted your drive "before" you even found out if your method
would work (it will not).

Now you have a grand total of nothing, and no way to install/reinstall
Windows XP - as you do not have the install media.

Your choices have already been mentioned. But in the long run, you have to
get the requisite media and install key to install Windows XP back on your
computer.

I highly suggest you do this legally or it may come back to bite you in a
few days/weeks.

Why MUST you?

Most people are provided 1) a Windows CD, 2) an OEM Restore CD, or 3) a
hidden partition on the HD with the setup files and instructions on how to
create a CD/DVD of it.
