Due to a malfunction, i have to reinstall my software to
my dimension 4300 desktop. So far the only big trouble
i'm having is with word 2000 sr-1 which asks for the 25
character CD key needed to reinstall. they, " you can
find the characters on the jewel box that came with the
software." that's great except that Dell sent all the
microsoft software in paper cases, not jewel cases. I get
as much information out of Dell as I get from my three
month old grandson. As a matter of fact, I get more from
the baby, then from Dell Anyone know the answer to this
problem?? Would appreciate it.

There is a Dell product key number on your computer case.
With that number you can go to the Dell website and find the
original data on your computer order. They may have
recorded the product keys for your software.

It could be a "paper" with the key on it. If not, then you will be to
"hound" Dell because they MUST provide you with the key.

Y.

And I'm SURE they did just that.

Dell delivers MS software with the product key (there is a big bar
code on the label and the key is printed under it) and many times,
depending on the software supplied, they also include the certificate
of authenticity with the hologram.

My bet, the user was so rushed to set up the new PC, he threw all the
wrapping away.
