Recovering Product Key Code

I am attempting to reinstall my copy of MS Office XP from my Action Pack
Subscribtion CD.

The part # on the CD is X08-95931

Upon attempting to load, the software is asking me for a 25 character
product key that is on a yellow sticker on the back of the cd case.

The jewel case and yellow sticker are long gone.

Is there any other to load this software, or is there a way to bypass this
product key code? I thought Microsoft had key codes that are generic, work
with all products.

Thanks!!

Microsoft products no longer have generic key codes. You MUST have the
proper key to install the software. I suggest you call Microsoft and
explain the problem to them. Most likely they will provide you with a
new key. And of course, now you know: never throw the Product Key away.

Greetings --

No, there are no generic Product Keys.

The 25-character Product Key (required to perform the installation)
isn't stored on the installation CD. If it was a retail license, it's
stored somewhere on the CD packaging on a bright orange sticker that
says "Do not lose this number."

To recover a lost CD or Product Key:

If it was a retail license and you have proof of purchase:

You just learned an expensive lesson. Always keep all the cd cases and
product key stickers, preferably in a fire proof safe. Unfortunately you
will have to purchase another license/key for you office xp. The cd is
basicly worthless, the product key/license is what you pay for.

The Action Pack Subscription software follows the same rules as the standard
retail versions. They still require a unique product key for installation as
well as product activation even though they normally come with a 10 system
license, depending on the subscription.

You should have received a Microsoft Partner package that includes contact
information for support with this software.

You can contact MS through http://microsoft.com/partner or you can use

Not for several years. These 25 character keys are each a unique
license, to install on one machine. That is why the card with them on
says 'Do Not Lose This Number'. If you can still boot the system, get
the free Aida 32, enterprise edition from
http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32
which is an excellent general System Info tool, and its Software -
Licenses page will tell you the one used for Windows and ones for
several other items.

Note that if the machine came with XP installed, this will probably give
a key used in producing an original image, then cloned to all machines
they make. So it is not the one for a reinstall. But then the key will
be on a label on the case of the machine
