Reinstalling windows xp

J

JON

A virus I believe wiped out my windows xp. I configured
the computer to reboot the cd first and tried to
reinstall Windows xp. All went fine until during the
installation It asked for me to put in the xp upgrade cd.
I recieved a message saying that no other windows product
could be found on this computer and i didn't qualify to
reinstall xp. It told to reinsert the windows 98 cd. I
don't have that anymore.
What are my options.

Thanks in advance.

Hi JON,

If you're wanting to reinstall WINXP using the Upgrade CD, you're going to
have to acquire (perhaps you could borrow?) an install CD for a previous
qualifying operating system......there's no way around having to provide
proof of previous operating system. If you are unable to acquire an install
CD for a previous, qualifying operating system, you'll have to purchase the
Full Install CD for XP in order to reinstall it.

Regards,
