Reinstalling Windows XP

M

Max

I was curious whether i can reformat my hard drive and
reinstall Windows XP without voiding my activation code.
I ask this because I am afraid that it will recognize the
code as already in use and think that I am trying to
install a second copy on another computer.

Greetings --

There's no limit to the number of times you can reinstall and
activate the same WinXP license on the same PC. Nor is there ever a
charge. If it's been more than 120 days since you last activated
that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to activate via
the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you might have to
make a 5 minute phone call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:

If it is the same PC it should activate by internet without any problems.
Sometimes if it has been less than 120 days and/or it thinks something has
changed, you may need to phone Microsoft to activate XP (doesn't cost
anything extra). They will then let you have an activation code.
