im wanting to reinstall xp, so that my computer is totally clean, like new as
ive gathered lots of useless things. when i put my disk in, and clied
nistalled, when it rebooted it showed me what system was installed, which was
windows xp. so i carried on installation and now its like ive got 2 copys of
windows, because when i finished the installation it still kept files. i
reinserted the disk, and it said to delete previous installed, press D, it
warned me that it would delete everything, including programs that start up m
pc so i cancelled as i wasnt sure. my computer is now slower than it was
before, how do i do a complete wipe of my computer

are you using a "restore CD" that came with your system??
If yes....there should be documentation on how to use the CD....normally you
would start system with CD inplace and follow the onscreen instructions.
If it is a retail version of XP not an OEM you would start a new install and
then pick the drive to install to and then pick the option to format that
drive...this will erase all. After XP is installed you would need to
re-install all mobo drivers and all of your programs. So before you begin
this be sure to save whatever personal files you wish to keep

When you reinstall your windows you have to format your computer and
reinstall your windows xp. You didn't format, that's why you now have 2
copies of it on your comptuer.

Using your windows xp CD, restart you computer and follow the instruction on
boot up, by pressing any key to boot from cd, and then delete the partitions.

Here is a few links to give you instruction to reinstall your windows xp!
Good luck!
