reinstalling windows xp

if my computer came with windows xp preinstalled, how can i create disks of
the operating system if i ever need to start over say from a virus or such??

It Depends on the manufacturer of your PC whether you can create disks of the
operating system, most preinstalled environments have a hidden partition so
that you can boot from the manufacturers supplied boot disk and reinstall the
operating system.

If you go to start..all programs..pc help and tools it should give you an
option to create disks there.

I don't actually own an HP machine, so Ricky may be the best advice to where
the location is for you to make the discs.

Just so that you know, if split a hard drive into smaller drives, this is
called partitioning and each smaller space is know as a partition.

That information should be in the manual that came with the computer.
It should also be available on the computer manufacturer's web site.
Different manufacturers use/provide different methods, so you'll have to
consult your specific manufacturer to learn the method that applies to you.
