reinstalling window xp pro

my laptop have become slower as it used to be. It has only been a year since
i bough it.
i was thinking of reinstalling window so can anyone help me??
i want everything(programs and files) to remained which mean everything on
the laptop is left untouch while getting a fresh copy of window xp pro.

Is it possible?? any help is appreciated
