reinstalling Win2k on top of old install

Most of the drivers (for example Nivida for VGA) will not
become stable when downloading from Internet site. Would
it be a good idea to reinstall Win2k on top of old Win2k
get the driver stablization back

Speaking of video drivers, is there any reason why after
installing the win 2K driver for my Diamond Viper 770 TNT2
Ultra card, that it reboots to a standard VGA driver? It
seems the Viper (nVidia drivers) install fine untill you
reboot and find out nothing happened.
