Reinstalling stalls

I am trying to reinstall Windows XPProfessional on my PC. I reformatted the
hard drive, got all the way to installing from the CD on the C; Drive, and
installation begins. It reaches 49% and then stops.I expected it to take a
while, but it's been stuck at 49% now for several hours with no additional
progress, although the hard drive light is on, indicating that it's working.
I'm using the CD that came with the computer for just this purpose. Windows
was pre-loaded. This is the first time I've tried reinstalling Windows on
this computer.

Any suggestions?

If you're using an OEM CD provided by the computer manufacturer as opposed
to a full, retail version then you'd be better off asking the computer
manufacturer; after all, it is their CD, not a Microsoft CD.

Thanks. I went back and tried again, changed to quick format, and that solved
the problem. That's the way it usually works, eh? Get baffled, ask for help,
figure it out yourself before you get an answer. This case is closed.
