On Windows XP, when trying to use the windows update
service, i get page not found. If I try IE it also says
page not found. I can ping from a dos box sites, I can ftp
through the browser but I can not view web pages. I have
set my browser back to default settings, I have uninstalled
it, when tyring to install it via mozilla download Windows
tells me that IE setup file when installing IE is not
certified for Windows XP and rolls back the process.

Help

Thanks,
BT

Well I found the problem. When I ran ad aware there was
a dll that was placed on my system that was redirecting
my browser everytime I opened it.

Does unwanted ad popups and placement of unauthorized dll
installation on a operating system comprise a security
violation to my environment? Who should I hold liable
for violating and accessing my personal and confidential
workstation enviornment? Who should I bill for my time
and expense involved in resolving this issue.... not to
mention downtime incurred in not being able to perform my
work?
