Hello,

I installed the Intel Application Accelerator and am now having
problems with my DVD burner. I tried to roll back to the previous
driver, but Windows cannot find the backup files.

I've tried to reinstall from the CD, but Windows cannot find the
drivers. I tried to install manually, but don't know which files to
use. Can anyone help me?? Running XP Pro with all available updates.

Thanks!!

R.click my computer,properties,device mgr,locate the hardware,R.click

IAA should show up in Control Panel>>Add/Remove Programs.

That's really the only way to safely uninstall it.

The other things you've tried may have screwed the uninstall
routine, but if it's still there, try it.

R.click my computer,properties,device mgr,locate the hardware,R.click
on it,select, uninstall, then close out shut down computer.XP will reinstall
the hardware on restart, and the drivers.
I tried that but it didn't work. I ended up uninstalling IAA. When I
restarted I went into Device Manager and found two yellow exclamation
next to Primary and Secondary. I chose to update the driver, put the
CD in and it found the drivers. All is back to normal. Thanks!

IAA ought to have its own Uninstall, either in the sub-menu it puts in
All Programs, or in Add/Remove programs

If that does not do it, look in Control Panel - System - Hardware -
Device Manager at IDE ATA/ATAPI disk controllers, highlight the first
item in it - the master controller (ie IAA) and Action - Remove. OK, and
reboot for PnP to start over

IAA doesn't like to be removed. Just a few days ago, I worked on
a Dell notebook that the user had installed & tried to remove IAA.
For some strange reason the original Microsoft drivers for Atapi.Sys
,Pcide.sys & Pciidex.Sys wouldn't load. After piddling around with
it, I reloaded the Intel Chipset drivers - removed all IDE controllers
and it finally re-enumerated it correctly.
I've had problems with IAA and CD burning and some other issues,
so I generally tell people to stay with the XP native drivers. I've never
been able to tell a significant difference between IAA and regular XP
certified drivers.

I used to use it - again found it interfered with DVD burning,
specifically in Image for Windows. But had no difficulty uninstalling it
