Reinstalling Excel- Settings Issue

If I reinstall Excel 2000 (to eliminate some current problems), is there a
way that I can save the present settings that I have customized (toolbar
layouts, toolbar macro buttons, etc.)?

Are these customizations saved in an xlb file, i.e., Excel10.xlb?

For Excel 2000...........Excel9.xlb

Don't forget to save your Personal.xls

Excel should not overwrite it on a re-install but I wouldn't take a chance.

Oops, I meant to type XL 2002 instead of 2000. Thank you for the
confirmation. And yes, I will same Personal.xls.

xl2002 added a "Save my settings wizard", too.

I don't use it regularly, but right after I installed xl2002, I tried it and it
seemed to work ok.

I find it under:
windows start button|programs|Microsoft office tools.

And when I've reinstalled xl2002 (very rarely, actually), my toolbar and
personal.xla, and templates weren't touched.

But I do agree that it's best to back things up--just in case.

Thank you for the advice. I found the "save my settings" wizard and will
use it. And hope for the best. I hope it resolves the chart issue as I rely
heavily on graphical analysis of data.

I'm not sure what the chart issue is, but you may want to post in .charting to
see if they can help/verify/validate (whatever you're looking for!).

I solved the chart failure problem. Thanks to ideas I got from the advice
of Debra Dalgleish, Jon Peltier, Gord Dibben, and Dave Peterson, and further
searching of group archives, I found that I had a corrupt book.xlt file in
my XLStart folder.

You all are a great source of information. Thank you all.
