hi folks - about two weeks ago i erased a file that has caused my desktop to
have several problems.. the background in the desktop stays white... when i
go to the display properties/desktop file the background verbiage is lightly
shaded so you cannot make any changes to the background.. the file is
damaged... also, when i start up my computer the active desktop recovery
warning is displayed... does anyone have a fix.. or is there a way to delete
the desktop and reload the file.. thanks much for any help.. and don't forget
to say a little prayer for our troops.. thanks ger

what happens with you terminate the process explorer.exe in task manager,
then run explorer.exe from the other tab?

Restore All Display Tabs - Remove All Display Tabs & Icon
Click on
Restore All Display Tabs

restorealldisplaytabs.reg is the file that you want.

thanks for your help wes... i ran the "restore all display tabs" without any
change occurring in the desktop file... the word background still would not
highlight... and the browse function would not highlight to scroll the
desktop file... don't know what to try now... thanks again..
