Stacey:
First of all we'll assume that notwithstanding the problem you're having
with that secondary HDD, the system boots and functions without any
problem(s). And we'll assume (at least for the moment that you're not
dealing with a defective HDD - it worked perfectly before you accidentally
detached its IDE cable, right?)
And after you accidentally "unhooked" the IDE cable from the drive did you
check the pins on the drive to determine if any pins are bent or missing,
etc.?
And you've reconnected the IDE data cable a number of times on that
secondary HDD to ensure that it's properly connected/seated on the drive's
connector?
And, of course, you've made no changes with the jumper configuration, right?
If you haven't done so already, disconnect that secondary HDD again, both
the IDE data cable and its Molex power connector and make a normal boot to
your PC. Boot *only* with the primary boot drive connected. Then shut down
the machine and reinstall the secondary HDD. See if that works.
If still no go, can you connect the drive to another IDE channel (either as
Master or Slave) - perhaps using the same data cable connected to your
optical drive?
Might still be a good idea to check out the disk with the HDD diagnostic
utility ordinarily available from the manufacturer's website.
