Reinstallation of XP

Installed hardware that caused xp to fail to boot up.
Removed hardware but problem persisted and using system
resotre form previous date did not work. Reinstalled XP
form CD and now cannot access my documents under "owner"
and cannot access old e-mail with Outlook Express. Also
lsot all the "Favourites" in Internet Explorer. Is there
any way to get access to these previous files - they are
lall thee on the C drive but access is denied.
