Reinstall Vista for Word 2000?

Hi,

That would be unlikely to resolve the problem. For Word, it often helps to
delete normal.dot, the default user template, when it won't open properly. A
new one will be rebuilt. You should find it under
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates, where <user> is your
account username.

Hi:
Every time I click and trying to open Word 2000,
'Not Responding' error message popping-up at the
top of Word 2000 that has been occurring since early
February, last month.

I attempted to 'reinstall' several times by following
the instruction I received in the past. However, it's
getting stubborn, ... no way to rescue/recover Word
2000.

My question is;
Is it a good idea to re-install Vista for the sake of
Word 2000?

A preferable solution is to use Windows XP Pro with SP3 (now in RC2 so soon
RTM), use Vista Transformation Pack 8.01 (free from its Website via Google),
IE 7 (which is really good) and Windows Live Mail (which looks better than
Outlook Express 6). This is all easy to do and Word 2000 or 2002 works fine
as does older hardware. Vista is ok, but I'm hoping Windows 7 will be much
better.

Thanks for the response.

In regard to the older version of Word which is Word 2000 has been working
VERY well
with the other PC with Vista. Then, I love to stick with Word 2000 as long
as I can, and first
of all I'm very comfortable to use Word 2000 due to a long-standing version.

Only issue I have is now, .... Word 2000 crashed after Linsky Wireless
failed. Since then,
I've been using a Hard-Wire to get my ISP that is all fine to me.

I've been searching for 'normal.dot' that seems to cure the
issue. However, I am NOT able to find any of the below
which you're mentioning.

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates,

Strange enough, other two IDs have no issue in regard to
Word 2000. They get it right away after clicking icon of
Word 2000 on the desktop.

Only issue is mine which is Administrator.

I would be truly appreciated it if you could direct me how
to access the following of which you're referring.

Hi,

Set folder options to see hidden and system files/folders. Go to the Control
Panel/Folder Options/View tab, set the advanced options. Specificially:

Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"
Check "Show hidden files and folders"

Once applied, you should be able to see that folder path.

Why are you wanting to use Word 2000?

Do you use Outlook 2000 as well?

If not, why not try OpenOffice?

It's a lot more current than Word 2000, works very similar, and is known to
be compatible with Vista.

Thanks for the time spending to try to help me out.

However, it's still the same, .... 'not responding.'

In my guess, it's 'registry' got wrecked when Linsky
Wireless failed or actually a functionability of Word
2000 ceased when Linsky Wireless got messed-up.

Any other imputs would be great.

The Recommended Version Of Microsoft Office On Vista Service Pack 0 And/Or 1
Is Either 2003 Service Pack 3 And/Or 2007 Service Pack 1.

All Other Versions Are Not Guaranteed 2 Have 100% Compatibility With Windows
Vista Service Pack 0 And/Or 1, Also Just FYI.
