Reinstall OS On Laptop

Our old laptop (NEC Versa SX) needs an OS reinstall (Win ME) from scratch.
What considerations does laptop hardware need that a desktop doesn't?
Power control and device bay swapping are two I'm aware of. Any others?

The "restore" disk might having the necessary drivers for your
machine.
