hello, i have a laptop which needs to be formatted. as the os came
pre-installed (no cd) how do i reinstall it afterwards as i only have the key

The laptop manufacturer may have included a recovery partition. Go to the
manufacturer for info on how to re-install Windows, or read the manual if
supplied..

Why? It is hardly ever the right thing to do when you have problems.

How to do it depends on what brand of laptop you have. However in most
cases, you do it from a recovery partition that the manufacturer put
on the drive. Read the instructions that came with your computer or
contact the manufacturer for help.
