Reinstall Notepad.exe

Hi. I get this notice whenever or where ever I try to open Notepad.
How would I re- install this in WinXP Home............Thanks. Dingo

You have some Adware/spyware which has replaced the Notepad.exe with a
malicious one. Look for it in C:\windows and delete it; then copy the
one from windows\system32 into windows. And get and run AdAware or
other antispy; see www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm for links
 
Hi Kelly. Thanks for the references on the NTVDM.
Both required using Notepad at some point which was unavailable to me.
However, I did a System Restore which seemed to fix the problem. In
case it helps, I think it happened when I created a folder on my desktop
and tried to name it HijackThis.exe and it wouldn't create it.
There was already a HijackThis.exe on the desktop and then a dialog box
came up from SpyCatcher (Hijack's creator) asking to report the error
and send a copy of the log.
