reinstall ms office document imaging

My computer came with Xp home edition and I managed to uninstall the
'Microsoft Office Document Scanning and Imaging' files. I installed Irfan
and can access tiff files, but I am not at all happy with the program.

Where exactly can I find the program files; which resource CD?
How can I recover and reinstall them?

yeh, i wasn't thrilled by irfran either.

i was impressed and have switch to
picassa from google.

So far i give it a "much" better rating
than irfran.

i also use a little new viewer
called futuriximager.

unlike the other programs that
display multiple images but are confined
in one window.

this little freeware allows
pics to be displayed individually in seperate windows
anywhere on the desktop.

As far as restoring system files if restore
points do not work, you can simply
do a repair via windows setup cd.

I use the program for scanning patient files and medical forms. I just found
the (Microsoft) program best for my purposes.
I have the resource CD. What I need is a step by step directions. I tried
to fix something on my own...which is how I got into this mess in the first
place.

ok.

actually i made a mistake in my prior posting
because m.d.i. is actually an office module
and not a module of the o.s.

but office, like windows, has the ability
to detect and repair.

first try something
go to start , run and type in mspview
then hit enter...

if the viewer opens up, then you only
deleted the shortcut...

if not, then do a detect and repair via
the help option inside of any of the
office programs.

if this doesn't work there is another
procedure that can be done...

....and what might that procedure be?
The version I have is XP home with WorksSuite 2001. Dell was kind enough
to load this puppy with tons of stuff that I never used. In attempting to
clear out the useless stuff, I managed to lose things that I needed
You have to understand, I am quite proficient in
deleting/uninstalling/corruting the wrong files.

unfortunately, my experience with works is limited.
primarily, if the run command did not work to intiate
the mdi, then the next best thing would be to do
a detect and repair of ms office or access and
reinstall the feature via the change/remove feature.

if mdi came with works then it is likely
that the above might be applied by works
as well. Look in add/remove programs
for the works line item and see if
there is the change or repair option.

maybe searching ms works via microsoft.com
may provide some insight...

Thank you!
I was able to locate the download for MODI on the website (haven't tried it
yet). From the information you had given me, I was able to figure out the
file extension and program.
Thank you again.
