Reinstall IE 6?

I have found help pages in Microsoft's Kowledge base detailing how to
reinstall IE 6, but never a file to reinstall it from. Is it possible to
download the latest version of IE to install? Thank you!

If you are running XP then you HAVE the latest version.......

I realize that, but I have had so many problems with it, I thought it might
help to reinstall it. Every time I close down IE, I get errors (ie. The
instruction at ... referenced memory.... The memory could not be "read".)
When I startup windows, I get the a runtime error (possibly unrelated), and
strange things like when I open a link in a new window, the address field is
illegible and unusable. I just thought it might help to reinstall it. Any
suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you! Angie

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

Firstly do Start-Run-scannow /sfc and then download, install, update and run
both Adaware and Spybot.

I had read that I should do this (actually, it was sfc / scannow)... When I
do it, what looks like a command promp window appears for a millisecond (I
can't see a thing on it, it disappears so fast) & nothing else. Do you know
if it is doing the scan? Or is it not even starting the scan? I get no
prompts for anything or any evidence that anything is happening. Thank you.

It should be sfc /scannow..only one space between the c and /. You might
need the XP CD.

Yes, if Angie's problems are being caused by hijackware, reinstalling IE
won't help at all: Hijackware infects the Operating System (Windows), not
the browser.
