Registry

I have all users on a windows XP professional platform set as "Limited Users", but I've just noticed that they can still open the registry by typing regedit in the Run box. My question is how do I disable this, so they can't open the registry as a Limited user.

Hi,

If you are in a Domain environment, set a Group Policy on the OU.
It'll be under User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System and
the Policy is "Prevent access to registry editing tools"

You could use GPEDIT.MSC to edit the local Policy, but this would not be
very secure and would probably prevent you from running the utility as well.

Hi Simo
We're not on a domain as yet - we have a workgroup of 80 plus users. I was surprised to see a user who doesn't have permissions to add a printer, to be able to edit the registry
